River ENT Sinus Center

Services we provide at River ENT include

In office image guided endoscopic sinus procedures (Image guided FESS)

Using CT imaging as a map, a computer tracks small endoscopic sinus instruments to allow the surgeon to see and thus protect vital anatomy that lives near the sinuses, such as the eye, brain and important arteries and nerves like a GPS for the sinuses.  This technology is especially crucial for difficult anatomy and revision procedures, decreasing risk of complications, and is now available at River ENT.

Minimally invasive balloon sinuplasty

Gentle dilation of the sinuses using endoscopic technique allows the sinuses to drain and relieves symptoms due to chronic sinusitis. This procedure is primarily performed in the office under local anesthesia with less recovery time versus traditional sinus procedures. Patients may return to work the same day or the day after with minimal discomfort and risks are extremely rare. The procedure takes minutes and can lead to lasting results. The procedure may be performed with image guidance to improve accuracy and sometimes is performed along with traditional endoscopic sinus techniques (hybrid procedure) depending on the unique needs of the patient.

In office CT scans with decreased radiation exposure compared to traditional scanners.

What is a CT scan?

Computed tomography (CT) is a special painless x-ray that helps diagnose a variety of diseases and conditions. It uses multiple small beams of radiation that pass through the body and are recorded on a plate that sits behind you. These images show up in black, white and shades of gray in many slices, like a loaf of bread, which allow us to view different parts of the body. At River ENT, we use a cone-beam CT scanner which involves a lot less radiation and takes only seconds to perform, fast enough to obtain pictures of a squirming 3 year old without requiring sedation!
